Rule of the Week
At some point, a ball is going to be hit into a spot from which
further progress is impossible. Into a bush, along a wall, into
water, or even buried into a bunker. When an unplayable lie occurs,
your situation dictates your options. In general though, you have
three options:
- You can either pick up the ball and drop it no nearer
to the hole within two club lengths of the original spot,
with a penalty of one shot.
- You can pick up the ball, walk back as far as you want, keeping
that original point between you and the hole, and then drop the
ball. Again, there is a one-stroke penalty.
- You can return to the point from where you hit the original
shot. This option should be used as a last resort, because you
loose distance, as well as adding one-stroke point penalty.
